2023 Year in Review

The Knights of Columbus, Council 11780, once again had a rewarding year in assisting SJTB Ministries and the local community.  In addition, several faith-based programs were implemented with the primary one being a series of Bible Study evenings in which both Knights and spouses participated.  We once again conducted the Silver Rose Program in tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe and this year we hosted the showing of the Mother Teresa Movie: No Greater Love.

Through various fund-raising events that included Lenten Fish Fries, Apple Sales, Crab Feast and several Pancake Breakfasts, the generous support from the parish allowed the Knights to generously assist others.  The focused program for this year was Coats for Kids and we were able to provide nearly 300 coats to elementary children in the local area.  Furthermore, the Knights were able to support the following SJTB Ministries: Outreach, Prepares, Guatemala, Faith Formation, Family Assistance and One Parish One Prisoner.  We also supported regional programs: WA State Seminarian Fund, Aid and Support After Pregnancy, and the Pro-Life Ultrasound Program.

The Knights also assisted several senior SJTB parishioners with labor to accomplish projects around their homes through our Helping Hands Program.  Additionally, we assisted on several SJTB facility projects throughout the year.  When called upon, we are always there to assist the Funeral Committee with setting-up and tearing-down the reception hall.

Over and above, the Knights volunteered on a regular weekly basis at the Covington Food Store and the Auburn Habitat for Humanity Store.

Finally, our Council hosted several social events throughout the year, some of which included our spouses and others, with open invitations to all men within the parish.  Plus, we held our annual parish Tacoma Rainiers “Day at the Ballpark” event that was well attended. In summary, we donated over $14,000 to ministries at SJTB and the surrounding community, along with over 1,000 hours of service.

Going forward into 2024, we are excited to continue serving the parish and local community through our primary programs of Faith, Family, Life and Community.   If you know of any Catholic man that is interested in learning more abouts the Knights of Columbus introduce him to any Officer or invite him to a meeting.
