Letter of Commendation
From the St. John the Baptist Creation Care Team
Knights of Columbus Council 11780 is commended for their efforts in support of St. John the Baptist Parish initiatives to reduce waste to landfills and increase our recycling and composting streams.
The recent "Crab Feast" event is an excellent example. Use of reusable service ware, and the sorting of trash and food waste by the service staff, are two examples of activities resulting in a dramatic reduction of waste previously going into the trash dumpster, and consequently to the King County Landfill.
Meal service events generate the largest volume of trash and other wastes in our parish, and the Knights host the greatest number of these events in our parish. The support of the Knights of Columbus is paramount to reaching our parish (and King County) goal of sending 20 percent of our waste to the landfill and 80 percent to recycling and composting destinations.
On behalf of the Creation Care Team, Thank you for your efforts.
