The first principal within the Knights of Columbus is Charity. Charity at home with our families and loved ones, and within the community in which we live and serve.
The primary Community Programs supported by Council 11780 are: Helping Hands, Coats for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Citizen Essay Contest and Leave No Neighbor Behind.
Featured ProgramCoats for Kids
Through various fund-raising events, the Council purchases and distributes coats to a targeted elementary school within the Kent School District that have a high population of students that come from families that are in need of assistance. The annual apple and cheery sales are some of the fund-raising events that support this program. In 2019, The Council distributed nearly 300 coats to kids within the local community.

Featured ProgramHabitat for Humanity
Currently the Council is involved in supporting the Habitat for Humanity Store in Auburn. The Auburn Habitat for Humanity Store offers resale items as well as new items. The inventory primary consists of construction supplies, appliances and furniture. Knights supporting this program assist with inventory management, unloading donations, loading purchased items, and general Customer Support.

The primary objective of this Council Program is to reach out to the disadvantage members of the community and Brother Knights, especially those that are elderly or facing health issues, to assist them with basic life tasks that they are struggling with. An example of Helping Hands is the recent Breakfast Program that was established for the Overnight Safe Parking Guests.
